Suit against Jackson St. athletics director tossed

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A judge has dismissed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Jackson State athletics director Vivian Fuller.

The lawsuit, which was tossed out earlier this month, was filed by Fuller's former secretary, Lolita Ward.

Ward alleged that Fuller subjected her to inappropriate comments, gestures and touching in 2011. The lawsuit claims Ward was fired in October 2011 after rejecting the advances.

But U.S. District Judge William H. Barbour Jr. said Ward failed to prove any of her allegations.

Jackson State spokesman Eric Stringfellow said in a Thursday news release that university officials were happy with the ruling. The university had maintained that the lawsuit was without merit.
