Car theft caught on surveillance video

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Jackson man's car was stolen from a convenience store parking lot by what he believes is a ring of teenage thieves. Store surveillance video captured the victim's black 2007 Camry being stolen from the Texaco Station on north State Street.

One person can bee seen crouched down approaching the vehicle before he opens the door. It happened shortly after one a.m. Saturday. The crime victim, who does not want to be identified, said he left his car running when he went into the store.

He said looked outside to see three teenagers getting into the vehicle and driving away. The owner said he watched as the car entered the Grove Apartments behind the store. The driver returned to stake out the store overnight and said he saw the same trio.

"The same night after the incident happened while the police were taking down the report he got a call in while he was in the house that they had spotted the car in Elton Park. They had thrown out all of our personal belongings, me and my wife's personal belongings," said the car theft victim.

Jackson police are investigating. The car has not been located, and no arrests have been made.
