Tires slashed at Jackson housing village

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Residents at a Jackson housing village woke up on Monday morning to find their tires slashed.

It happened at the Commonwealth Village off Skyview Drive in Jackson. Numerous residents are now without transportation after someone went through the parking lot slashing tires sometime Sunday night.

Jackson police were on the scene early this morning.

A suspect has not been identified. Our photographer, Tracey James, spoke to one of the residents and she says she and her neighbors are furious.

"I'm assuming by the gates being opened or broken, unlocked or whatever it is that is how they were able to get out here on to the premises, " said resident Valeria Hayden. "It's a lot of cars in the gate and around the neighborhood that have flat tires. The cameras out here do work."

Residents say there is a security system throughout the housing village, and this morning they will be demanding answers.
