WALTHALL COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -
A Walthall County junior high teacher turned herself into authorities on Friday morning just days before she was to attend a probable cause hearing concerning allegations she had sex with students.
At 9:15 a.m., Nolana Griffin of Tylertown turned herself into the Walthall County Sheriff's Department. She was placed under a $50,000 property bond and later released. A trial date will soon be set.
Authorities charged Griffin with four counts of sexual battery involving children under the age of 18. Allegations include sexual relations with four students ranging in age from 15 to 17. The alleged incidents occurred between October 1 and December 31, 2013.
Under state law, school teachers are entitled to a probable cause hearing prior to issuance of an arrest warrant. A hearing had been set for March 31 in Walthall County Circuit Court.
Griffin teaches English, reading, science and health at Salem Attendance Center.
