JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Congressman Gregg Harper was on the campus of Jackson Academy on Monday morning for a ceremony to present a flag to a very special student.

JA senior William Hontzas, was presented a flag after being accepted into the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.

Hontzas told us how amazing he feels after getting in.

"I had a lot of doubts going through it," he said. "Now that I'm in, it's one of the most exciting things I've ever gone through."

Hontzas describes applying to the U.S. Air Force Academy as a long, hard process.

"I had to write a long essay, get lots of teacher recommendations. I had to talk to an Admissions Liaison Officer and then get an interview with them."

As for Hontzas' plans once he's there, he says, "I'm just going to work as hard as I can."

Hontzas was recognized for his outstanding achievement in front of the JA student body, faculty and loved ones.

During the ceremony, Congressman Harper also asked Hontzas' family to stand up in recognition.
