Stolen Simpson County vehicles recovered in Jones County

JONES COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Jones County Sheriff's Department has recovered some vehicles stolen from Simpson County and made two arrests.

Deputies were called to the 100 block of Evans Creek Road to investigate a suspicious vehicle. The property owner asked for help in identifying a vehicle on his property that didn't belong to him.

He said an employee, Jeremy Williams, parked the vehicle there two weeks ago and said it belonged to his uncle. When deputies ran the tag, they found out it was stolen from Simpson County.

A check with Simpson County law enforcement revealed that several more vehicles had been stolen and that Gregory Shows was a suspect in the thefts.

While on the scene, deputies notices a white Chevy pick-up start to turn into the driveway of the residence and then kept going. Deputies stopped the truck and identified the driver as Greg Shows and confirmed he was wanted in Simpson County for the theft of two vehicles.

The passenger was identified Jeremy Williams. Both were arrested and  a vehicle ID was run on the white Chevy pickup. it came back stolen from Simpson County.

Deputies found several handguns, and inflatable bag and a door-opening tool commonly used to unlock vehicles.

Shows and Williams were charged with two counts of taking /possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of burglary tools. Shows was also charged with Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. 

The duo appeared before Justice Court Judge Billie Graham for their initial appearance.  Bond for Shows was set at $20,000.00 and bond for Williams was set at $15,000.00.   Williams could face possible burglary charges from Forrest County.  Simpson County placed a hold on Williams for Stolen Vehicles.
