Search continues for missing Alzheimer's patient

HINDS COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

It's been more than 24 hours and there is still no sign of 78 year old Hazel Williams. The woman who suffers from the beginning stages of Alzheimer's was last seen Monday night around 9 p.m. at her house on Bozeman Road just outside of Terry.

"Ms. William's sister actually walked her back to her home," said Hinds County Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Othor Cain. "That was right at 9 o'clock, and advised her to make sure she locked her door and that she turned the latch. And according to the sister, she stayed there and witnessed, heard her turn the lock. And that's the last time the sister saw her."

The Hinds County Sheriff's Office, along with many other agencies, are staged just outside of Williams home, searching a half-mile radius around her home.

Cain says teams are working aggressively to find her.

"ATV's, horseback, we have dogs out trying to pick up scents and all those kinds of things," said Cain. "Also, our MetroOne is up in the air, doing aerial shots and looking as well."

Cain says the search will continue until crews are exhausted.
