RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Athletes are rockin and rollin on two wheels on the court this weekend during the State Wheelchair Tennis Championships. MACE, or Metro Area Community Empowerment is hosting the "Mississippi Rock N Roll" Wheelchair tournament at the Ridgeland Tennis Center.

Youth and adult players will compete in the amateur matches. Participants range in age from 14 to 65 and have various spinal cord and other injuries.

The games are a part of the Southern Grand Prix Series of tournaments. Organizers tell us tennis is one sport that able bodied and wheelchair bound people can do together.

"It's to show that their disability will not stop them, that it only gives them a chance to make an ability work harder. it's a great opportunity for these people to get a chance to compete and compete at a high level," said MACE CEO and Founder Antonio Wright.

The tournament continues Sunday from 8 a.m. until noon.
