JULIA'S FORECAST: Rain & storms with a cool down to follow

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Our quiet an warm weekend has ended as we run headfirst into a Monday morning of active weather. Rain and storms have been on our map through the early AM. The biggest concerns have been the torrential downpours resulting in flash flooding, high gusting winds, and frequent lightning.

Expect a bit of a lull in the late morning and early afternoon with just scattered showers and thunderstorms. However, the threat for severe weather and flash flooding picks up again in the later afternoon and evening, especially for areas southeast of Jackson.

Clearing occurs through the overnight, and temperatures cool! We'll only top out in the 50s tomorrow, and could even see freezing temps overnight Tuesday and into early Wednesday morning. We'll keep you updated.
