Severe weather threat followed by dropping temperatures

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The severe weather threat continues tonight with the possibility of gusty winds, large hail and torrential flooding rainfall. A cold front will move through overnight ending the rough weather threat.

Tuesday will turn sharply colder and windy as temperatures struggle to get out of the 50s most of the day.

As the wind dies down under clear skies Tuesday night, lows will fall dangerously close to freezing. This near if not record breaking cold will be felt Wednesday morning especially. Protect plants and pets before the cold weather sets in.

Fortunately, things will start warming up again Wednesday and into the rest of the week with another chance for storms Thursday into Friday.

Flooding conditions will persist overnight tonight and possibly several days this week with heavy run-off continuing from thunderstorms tonight.
