Capital City showdown - - Jackson, MS

Capital City showdown

Good morning from MSNewsNow's Brandon Artiles.

Your day is off to a 63 degree start and the possibility of rain and thunderstorms will be hanging around for much of the day. Meteorologist Julia Weiden will let us know when we may need to take cover, or at least have an umbrella handy, in her First Alert Forecast.

Can't help but wonder if today's potential for rain will impact turnout for the special mayoral runoff election in Jackson. Wet or dry, today Capital City voters will have to make a choice between Chokwe Antar Lumumba or Tony Yarber. Jessica Bowman is on voter patrol and she'll join us live throughout the WLBT AM Report with Election 2014 coverage.

Plus, investigators in Copiah County are trying to figure out who started not just one, but two fires inside a Hazlehurst Walmart.

And, two Jackson teens are being charged as adults for their alleged involvement in an armed carjacking, kidnapping and rape. Details on the disturbing crime are coming up at the top of the hour.

Those stories and much more are heading your way.

Please join us from 5 to 7, and Mississippi News Now continues on FOX 40 from 7 to 9.

Have a great Tuesday!
