DIAMONDHEAD, MS (WLOX) -

A Louisiana man who robbed a Diamondhead credit union with his wife in 2012 says the arrest probably saved his life.

Jessie Landry, of Bogalusa, LA, was sentenced this week to 15 years in prison. His wife, Aleisha, received the same sentence last week for her role as the get-away driver. Both will have to complete the Mississippi Department of Corrections' long-term drug and alcohol treatment program.

Jessie Landry said he entered the credit union the day of the robbery with an empty hand in his pocket, so the teller would believe he was armed.

During his sentencing, he said, "I wish I could tell the lady at the bank that I'm sorry. I have a bad drug habit. Heroine is a bad drug, and it's had a grip on me for a long time. This arrest probably saved my life."
