JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson Police got more when they bargained for when they began investigating a person who allegedly ran away from a checkpoint, Wednesday morning.

They ended up arresting seven people and confiscating guns, drugs and cash.

Police say a driver turned to avoid a checkpoint they had set up in Jackson. They later found an abandoned car on Nimitz Street.

Officers ran a check on the tag and it led them to a home on Glenwood Street.

When they arrived several people ran from the house.

Officers were able to arrest all seven of them. One is a juvenile.

We're told a search of the house turned up four guns, crack cocaine, marijuana, and cash.

The suspects are expected to face multiple charges.

Despite a sentence of 40 years to life, the Arizona Board of Executive Clemency voted to release him from prison into home arrest. Family members of the victims are concerned for the safety of the community, as are new members of the Clemency Board. CBS 5 Investigates videotaped Huff riding a bike through his Tucson neighborhood. There are no restrictions placed on his proximity to children.
