Authorities identify Hinds County Deputy and wife found dead in home

A warm and windy Thursday afternoon in the Jackson metro area. I'm Howard Ballou with a look at some of the news stories you will see on WLBT.

Hinds County Sheriff Tyrone Lewis said, "It's a sad day for the law enforcement community." He asks for the public to pray for the family of Hinds County deputy Chris Smith, whose body along with his wife's body were found in their Rankin County home.

Plus, Jackson's new mayor Tony Yarber energized a crowd of supporters this morning as he took the oath of office.

And, Tony Gene Stewart, of Raymond, has been arrested; accused of sexual crimes against children.

In sports, two Mississippi State football players are in trouble with the law.
