Woman & 3-year-old held captive in police standoff

Good Monday morning from MSNewsNow's Brandon Artiles, and I hope all the moms out there felt the appreciation and love they deserve on Mother's Day.

Right now, it's 73 degrees and the possibility of more rain and thunderstorms is with us today. Meteorologist Julia Weiden will let us know if that will be factor during our morning drive. She'll break it down for us in her First Alert Forecast.

Happening now, a woman and her 3-year-old child are okay, but in shock after being held captive during a domestic dispute that became a standoff with Jackson Police. The man at the center of the chaos is in custody and Jessica Bowman will have more details in live reports throughout the show.

Plus, a well-known metro attorney is killed in a four-wheeler accident.

And, Madison Police have made another rest in the home invasion and armed robbery of a couple in Cypress Lake.

Those stories and more are heading your way at the top of the hour.

Please join us from 5 to 7 and Mississippi News Now continues on FOX 40 from 7 to 9.

Have a great Monday!
