Fatal shooting victim remembered during candlelight vigil

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Jackson man, found fatally shot last week, was remembered Monday by family and friends. There were tears, prayers and hymns at a candlelight vigil in honor of Okang Oko.

More than 70 people gathered at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Booker Street. The 19 year old's body was found on Booker Street Friday.

His grandmother said he was shot once in the back of the head and once in the chest. Family and friends are begging for anyone with information about his death to go to police.

"They killed him and they threw him out of the car and left him laying on the street like an animal. If anybody knows anything please cooperate," said Oko's grandmother Darline Tillman.

Hinds County Supervisor Kenneth Stokes and his wife Jackson Councilwoman Larita Cooper Stokes organized the vigil.
