JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A man was shot multiple times at his home Thursday morning on Valencia Street. Family members say 43 year old Jerome Reed was shot in the face and his home was ransacked.

"All I know is that it was a struggle," said Donna Reed, the victim's sister. "He was shot and taken back in his home."

Family members were grief stricken as they watched the coroner roll their 43 year old brother's body out on a stretcher. Detectives scoured the property, looking for evidence and questioning people who might have any information that could lead to Jerome Reed's murderer.

"He made no enemies," added Donna Reed. "That's why I'm finding it real hard to accept that someone would come in his home and take his life the way that they did."

Donna Reed is the victim's oldest sister. She says the murder was brutal; her innocent brother was shot in the face.

"South Jackson is poisoned," said Reed. "It's freighting to know that you are in your own home and someone takes it upon themselves just to come in and attack you."

Jackson Police are releasing few details, but are confirming the victim was shot more than once.

Officer Colendula Green says,

"There is not a motive or a suspect at this time," said Officer Colendula Green. "But we're reaching out to the public for help in this matter."

"He might know the perpetrator," added Reed. "But whoever you is out there, you will be caught."

Donna Reed says her brother was a car salesman and is the youngest of 13 siblings. He has two sons, ages 10 and 11.
