Dollar General Literacy FDN awards money to Jackson area schools

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

On Friday, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation awarded $25,000 to Jackson-area schools, nonprofits and literacy organizations to support adult literacy programs.  Award recipients include:

Jackson Public Schools Adult Education and GED Testing Center



Jackson State University School of Lifelong Learning



Hinds Community College



"At Dollar General, we are passionate about our mission of serving others throughout the communities we serve," said Rick Dreiling, Dollar General's chairman and CEO. "It's exciting to see the Dollar General Literacy Foundation's outreach in action as we partner with organizations to further education and literacy and make a real difference in people's lives."

According to the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, it has awarded more than $92 million in grants to nonprofit organizations and has helped for than 5 million people take their first steps in literacy and continued education.
