RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A night filled with music, great food, and fireworks Friday night at the Reservoir. The 33rd annual Mississippi Symphony Orchestra's Pepsi Pops concert was a big hit.

This is one of the premiere events for MSO each year. Fans and supporters were treated to patriotic songs, Broadway hits, movie themes and each branch of the military was honored in music.

"We are the largest performing organization in the state, but more important than that , music changes lives and that's what we're about," said Michael Beattie of the MSO. "These are professional musicians, we want to pay them well. They contribute to our economy, they teach our kids, they play for our life events, so its really important to keep it alive and well."

Many symphony supporters watched and listened from their boats.  The fireworks display which ended shortly after nine, helped bring the evening to a close on a high note.
