MADISON COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

According to Madison Police, authorities received information Thursday concerning the possible exploitation of a vulnerable adult resident at St. Catherine's Village in Madison.

Friday in a press release authorities said, as a result of their investigation, it was determined that Clayton Thomas Kelly, 28, illegally and improperly obtained an image of a vulnerable adult resident without their consent for his own benefit.

When we asked Assistant Chief Robert Sanders of the Madison Police Department if the image obtained was that of Rose Cochran, he replied, "We can't comment on that."

According to the Associated Press Rose Cochran has lived at St. Catherine's Village since 2000 and has dementia.

Saturday this statement was released from Sen. Cochran and issued by his attorney Don Clark. "I have been fortunate to have a wonderful family, and life so many families, we are deeply affected by my wife's serious, long-term illness, that we consider to be a very private family matter. We will continue doing everything we can to protect my wife's safety and security."

Republican Senator Chris McDaniel issued a statement Saturday on Kelly's arrest.

McDaniel's statement reads, "I've reached out to Senator Cochran directly to express my abhorrence for the reprehensible actions of this individual. This criminal act is deeply offensive and my team and I categorically reject such appalling behavior. My thoughts and prayers are with Senator Cochran and his family," McDaniel said. "Politics is about the exchange of ideas and this type of action has no place in politics whatsoever and will not be tolerated."

Kelly's bond is set at $100,000 and he is currently being held at the Madison County Detention Center.

The matter remains under investigation by the Madison Police Department.
