JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The family of a fatal fire victim is asking for the public's help in recovering from Friday's devastating apartment blaze.

Fashatta Allen says her mother 40-year-old Catina Allen died after flames engulfed her home at Melrose Place Apartments.

Investigators said Allen was found unconscious in a bedroom.

Allen left behind a daughter and two small sons who lost everything.

Some residents were forced to jump to safety.

JPD Officer James Edwards was patrolling the area when he saw the blaze and caught children jumping from balconies.

Allen's family makes a plea to the public to assist the Jackson woman's young children.

If you would like to make donations to Allen's family, you are asked to contact Fashatta Allen at (601) 213-9987 or Presephany Allen at (601) 541-9434. They tell us you can also go to Regions Bank and ask for the Allen Family Fund.
