JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Many people will be hitting the roads this Memorial Day weekend.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol wants to remind drivers to not drink and drive and to watch your speed.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol said there were no DUI related deaths in Mississippi last year and it wants to keep that statistic the same this year with no fatalities.

That's why tonight they will hosting a DUI checkpoint in the metro.

This weekend you can expect to see every available resource on the roads to keep accidents to a minimum.

We got totals in from Friday and there were 36 DUI arrests and one fatality, but alcohol wasn't involved.

So if you are heading out and you plan to drink, get a designated driver or call a cab.
