Wife killed, husband injured when vehicle hit tree

COPIAH COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A fatal accident has claimed the life of a Copiah county woman.

Copiah County Coroner Ellis Stuart said the 34-year-old was killed around 5 p.m. Saturday on Thomas Road in Crystal Springs.

The Prentiss resident was a passenger in a vehicle driven by her husband. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to investigators, the vehicle ran off the road and struck a tree. Her husband was transported to Hardy Wilson Hospital then to UMMC.

Names have not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Deputies are investigating to determine whether alcohol was involved.
