JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The pedestrian struck and killed on I-55 Friday night has not been identified.

Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham-Stewart said that may take time.

Stewart said the white male was hit by several vehicles and a visual ID is not possible.

JPD said the man was trying to cross the southbound lanes of I-55 when he was killed.

The man is described as a white male, between the ages of 40-50 years-old.

The accident happened just before 10 p.m. south of County Line Road and forced the closure of all I-55 southbound lanes.

Traffic was diverted on to Frontage Road at Exit 103.

The interstate was cleared and reopened just after midnight.
