HAZMAT teams in Rankin county are on the scene of a anhydrous ammonia leak.
We are told the leak was discovered this morning at Millard Refrigeration at 300 Industrial Park Road in Richland.
Employees have been evacuated and crews entered the building in level 1 chemical suits to see how extensive the leak was.
The leak was contained to a mechanical room on the west side of the building. The cause is still under investigation.
Richland Fire Captain Todd Sanford says, "They have to make sure they don't make contact with the chemical, it will burn your skin and eyes."
A second party contractor, U.S.E.S. has been called in to assist in the cleanup which could take several hours, and could go into tomorrow.
Industrial Park Drive at the railroad tracks is shut down at this time and the public is asked to avoid this area.
One firefighter said he was about twenty yards from the warehouse when he was overcome by fumes from the gas.
