Members of a training support brigade at Camp Shelby Friday celebrated the birthday of the U.S. Army with a brief ceremony at the post.
Members of the 158th Infantry Brigade gathered at the Mississippi Armed Forces Museum to mark the Army's 239th anniversary.
During the event, a few soldiers used an Army sword to cut a birthday cake.
"Today, I feel very honored and proud and privileged to be a part of an organization that has so much history, to support the United States of America and its allies," said Sgt. Latonya Fuller.
"It's an honor," said Sergeant First Class James Alexander. "We're still a young country at heart and it's important that we remember our roots and lead the way for those to follow," he said.
The Army was organized on June 14, 1775.
