Burglary suspects caught in Hattiesburg

Hattiesburg Police have taken two burglary suspects off the streets in the past 24 hours.

Clarence Thompson was arrested and charged with two commercial burglaries in the 100 block of Oak Street. The other suspect, Demetrius Ware was arrested and charged with a residential burglary in the 600 block of Katie Avenue. Hattiesburg Police Lt. Jon Traxler stated that most suspects look for a crime of opportunity, and that members of the community should not make it easy. Locking doors, closing windows and not leaving valuables out in the open is a great start.

"We have that going on right now, it's summer time, people are out of town, they are leaving, going on vacation and things like that because kids are out of school, got more foot traffic and better days and everything, so we just ask everybody to be cautious of that, watch for things going on in their neighborhood and just like this here, if you see something, call us," said Traxler.

The department's investigation process is still underway and it could be possible one or both of the suspects could be linked to more incidents in the city.
