Report: Gay slur carved into hood, pills stolen during vandalism

A Gaston County man called police after someone vandalized his Mercedes with a gay slur and stole prescription medication from inside.

The 39-year-old man says he was parked along Bird Street, in Rock Hill, early Monday morning when the vandalism happened.

He told officers that someone had carved a gay slur into the hood of his car and damaged his vehicle. There was reportedly damage to one door, cuts on the driver's seat, spray paint on the headlights and a brown liquid on the passenger seat. 

Officers believe the liquid was chocolate syrup.

Police say the 2003 Mercedes was left unlocked.

The man told officers that 28 hydrocodone pills, $548 in cash and hundreds of dollars' worth of floor mats and equipment were taken from the vehicle.

The damage is estimated at $2,100 to the vehicle.

The area where the vandalism happened is a home surrounded by a large sections of woods.

Officials in Rock Hill say the Detective Division is looking over the details of the case before classifying it as a hate crime.
