MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC) – A Memphis firefighter is recovering from second degree burns to his face, ears, and neck after a Tuesday night house fire.

The fire happened at a home in the 500 block of East Olive Avenue around 9:20 p.m. No one was home at the time and no one else was hurt.

Investigators say the blaze was intentionally set in multiple spots throughout the home.

No suspects have been identified at this time.

A witness, who did not want to be identified, told WMC Action News 5 he saw someone suspicious running from the scene.

"We heard a kaboom and then I start running. It was a guy he started running full speed past me. He ran straight past me and that's when I saw all the ambulances running past me. And then that's when I saw the house on fire," said the witness.

American Red Cross was called in to assist three people who lived in the home.
