JEFFERSON DAVIS COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The three people who survived a plane crash on Saturday in Jefferson Davis County have been identified.

Deputy Denise Jackson with the Jefferson Davis Sheriff's Department confirmed the identity of the survivors.

Sammie Hooks, 75, of Covington County was piloting the plane. Hooks is also the owner of the single-engine aircraft.

The passengers were 38-year-old Kristy Wade and a five-year-old boy.

Authorities said all three onboard were taken by private vehicle with non-life threatening injuries to Covington County Hospital.

Officials said the plane crashed in a field at 116 Thurman Road around 11:40 a.m. Saturday near the Covington County line.

Hooks told authorities the two seater lost power, but he knew the area and was able to put it down in the open field.

A witness, driving a tractor on the property, said the plane came in low over a tree line, bounced once when it hit the ground, lost a wheel and came to a stop upright.

We were told the right wing of the plane was collapsed a little.

Jefferson Davis County authorities said officials with the NTSB will arrive Monday to investigate the crash.
