MADISON COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Madison County Sheriff Randy Tucker released the names of the suspects in custody for
Monday's shooting and high-speed chase that started in Flora and ended in Yazoo County.

19-year-old Devonte Stowers and 21-year-old Kevin Thompson are in police custody after a high-speed chase and shootout with Madison County deputies that began as a burglary.

21-year-old Derrick Booker is the third suspect who was shot by deputies while in the back of the black Chevy SUV. He is currently being treated at UMMC.

According to Tucker, his office received a report of a possible burglary in progress on Childress Lane in Flora.

When deputies responded, the suspects tried to hit a deputy with their vehicle. The deputy then fired shots at the tires of the vehicle to prevent the suspects from fleeing.

That is when the exchange of gunfire and chase began.

Officials found numerous items in the suspects' car, including 2 assault rifles, other weapons and a lot of ammunition.

They also found items taken in burglaries including TV's, laptops and guns.

Tucker believes they have taken down a major burglary ring.

All three suspects are charged with burglary and assault on a law enforcement officer.

Stowers has an additional charge of felony fleeing.

MBI is handling the officer involved shooting part of the investigation.
