JPD recovers handgun stolen from Attorney General Jim Hood

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson Police say a handgun, stolen from Attorney General Jim Hood's vehicle, was recently recovered.

George Harris of Jackson pulled the gun on his daughter. He told JPD he bought the weapon from someone at a gun show.

That gun came back as reported stolen and belonging to Attorney General Jim Hood.

It was the last week in May when Hood's weapon and some property was taken from his personal vehicle in broad daylight. He was parked in the Stein Mart parking lot on I-55 north. Security officers were patrolling the lot. They say it was a slow and rainy day. An officer had just passed the row of cars where Hood's SUV was parked.

Jackson Police are still investigating. Hood is grateful the gun has been recovered.
