Governor Bryant critical of Obama administration's immigration enforcement

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant has written a letter to President Obama concerning illegal immigration. The governor expressed his concern about the lack of enforcement of immigration laws on the United States' south border.

Governor Bryant told the President the United States needs to make having a secure border a priority instead of spending billions in tax dollars caring for immigrants and trying to dissuade illegal immigration.

He also blames the administration's lax immigration policies for thousands of immigrant children facing series threats of violence and abuse at the hands of human traffickers.

Governor Bryant says it's unfair to expect states to bear the cost of a problem created by the federal government's failure to enforce the law, adding that Mississippi will continue to enforce an executive order he signed in 2012, prohibiting illegal immigrants from receiving public benefits in the state.

The complete letter is here.
