JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Hundreds of young voices from across the state came together for gospel recording at a Jackson concert hall. Sunday the sanctuary of Greater Fairview Baptist Church in Jackson was filled with children singing God's praises.

More than 350 boys and girls are taking part in the General Missionary Baptist State Convention. A gospel recording of their songs of worship will be held Wednesday evening at Thalia Mara Hall.

The singers are made of two groups from kindergarten to fifth grade and middle school to college. Gospel and Christian Contemporary Music Artist Jonathan McReynolds will perform along with the children during Wednesday's recording.

"This is a first venture for our recording,"said Youth Choir Director Stephen Johnson. "We have been talking about it in past. Each year we try to do a concert, but this is something that will give the youth a new light about gospel music for them to embrace with a new light."

The children's gospel album will feature 10 songs.
