Man flees, chase ends at police-filled building

BILOXI, Miss. (AP) - A man who fled a traffic stop on U.S. 90 in Biloxi unknowingly ran into a building where police academy training was in session.

Police Chief John Miller tells The Sun-Herald that 30-year-old Roger Beasley Jr. apparently was so focused on getting away that he didn't notice marked police cars outside the Harrison County Law Enforcement Training Academy.

Miller, in a news release, says officers tried to stop Beasley who was driving without a license Wednesday. During the subsequent police pursuit, Beasley jumped out of his vehicle and fled. An officer chased him - straight to the training academy building, where Beasley was arrested.

Beasley was booked with several charges including possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, resisting arrest and careless driving. He's free on $51,670 bond.
