JULIA'S FORECAST: Typical July Weather? Yes & No.

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Good morning!

We're expecting very typical mid/late July weather today: warm, humid, and a chance for an afternoon thunderstorm. What's not-so-typical is how our weather map is set up. Usually, our weather patterns move from west to east. Today, it's the opposite. We're watching a disturbance in the upper atmosphere that's currently to our east, sitting over Alabama. That will "retrograde," or move backwards, towards us. Regardless of where the weather is coming from, the story is the same: expect a few PM thunderstorms. This is especially likely for those in the southeast portion of the state.

As far as temps are concerned today, we'll top out at a humid 90°. Expect sun and clouds for the majority of the day when there aren't any rain showers around.

Skies quiet down tonight with the loss of the heating of the day. Occasional rain and thunder is possible again on Wednesday afternoon with highs reaching near 90.
