Back to school shopping means getting a break on much needed items with the Mississippi Sales Tax Holiday.
The annual tax holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2014, and ends at midnight Sunday, July 27, 2014.
According to information obtained from the MS Department of Revenue's website items that are considered tax free are clothing and footwear items. The cost must be less than $100 per item.
Accessories such as jewelry, handbags, wallets, watches, backpacks, and similar items do not qualify for the Sales Tax Holiday.
There will be three municipalities in the state that will not be participating in the event this year.
Crenshaw, Enterprise, and Heidelberg will not participate. All retail businesses within the corporate limits of the municipality not participating must charge and remit to the state sales tax on all sales that would normally be exempt under the Sales Tax Holiday.
