Vicksburg man arrested after $600K - $1M in synthetic LSD seized

VICKSBURG, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Vicksburg man was arrested on Thursday under a 2014 state law that makes sale or possession of synthetic LSD a felony.

According to Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics officials, he faces drug charges in connection with the seizure of $600,000 to $1 million of the substance.

State and local law enforcement arrested 28-year-old Michael Anthony Montgomery near Rouse Elementary School in Brandon.

He faces a charge of one count of sale of a controlled substance.

Agents seized approximately 6,000 dosage units of 25B-NBOME on paper and approximately 114 grams of the hallucinogen in powdered form, said MBN Interim Director Sam Owens.

Because of the quantity of the so-called designer drug and because Montgomery allegedly sold and distributed it to undercover agents within 1500 feet of a school, the charge against him could be upgraded to aggravated trafficking of a controlled substance.

If convicted, he faces 25 years to life in prison.

The suspect's arrest culminates a 15-month investigation by the MBN, with assistance from the Rankin County district attorney's office and Rankin County Sheriff Department, Lt. Col. Perkins said.

Montgomery was booked into the Rankin County Detention Center.
