Scott county authorities investigate fatal shooting

LAKE, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A late night altercation between neighbors turned deadly in Scott County Saturday.

According to Sheriff Mike Lee, deputies were called to the home of Allen Thomas Barnes on Old Highway 80 in Lake, Mississippi.

Around 11:30 p.m. Barnes told authorities that two shots were fired at Bradley Paul Harrison. Harrison then left Barnes' home on his four wheeler. Deputies found the 26-year-old on the side of the road beside the vehicle.

The Lake resident was airlifted to UMMC where he was pronounced dead around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

Scott County Coroner Joe Bradford said Harrison was shot in the abdomen and leg.

The investigation into the fatal shooting is ongoing. As yet, no charges have been filed.

    The Mississippi Highway Patrol is looking for a driver who ran away from the scene of a deadly crash in George County. Three children were killed in the crash. Troopers said a green 2003 Kia Optima was heading east on Highway 198, east of Depot Road, shortly before 4 p.m. on Saturday.
