Fatal shooting victim brother-in-law of state lawmaker

LAKE, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

There is new information in the weekend fatal shooting of a Scott County man. The victim, Bradley Paul Harrison, is the brother-in-law of State Representative Tim Miles.

Scott County Sheriff Mike Lee said Harrison was shot twice Saturday night and later died. The 26 year old was shot at the home of Allen Thomas Barnes on Old Highway 80 in Lake when the two argued.

Representative Miles released the following statement regarding the incident:

"As many of you know, our family has suffered a tragedy. Now, I seek your compassion and respect for the privacy of all who have been affected as we do the best we can to cope with these heartbreaking circumstances. As we go through the difficult times ahead, we ask that you continue to remember us all in your prayers, and we thank you for your kind expressions of concern."

Barnes told authorities Harrison fled on his four wheeler after the shooting.

The Lake resident was found near his four wheeler on a nearby road. Coroner Joe Bradford said Harrison was shot in the abdomen and leg.

Details of the investigation and what caused the altercation have not been released. As of Sunday no charges had been filed.
