JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A neighbor said a shooting on Smith Robinson Street led to the victim driving to a gas station Friday afternoon for help.

The woman, who declined to give her name, said a man showed up at an apartment complex in the 2900 block of Smith Robinson Street and tried to go inside, but forgot his key.

She said the man then punched the window near the door to gain entry to the apartment, adding that the man's friend was inside, and the two had an argument, but it's not clear when that argument took place.

The man inside the apartment then shot the person who had tried to get into the apartment, hitting him in the leg.   She said the gunshot victim then left the apartment complex and drove to a Shell gas station on Hanging Moss Road.

The gas station's manager, David Hunter, said the victim drove to the gas station at around 2:30 Friday afternoon and asked to use the phone.

Hunter said the man was bleeding from his hands and arm, and had wrapped them both in a T-shirt.

AMR transported the man from the scene. Officers and detectives had the scene at Hanging Moss Road blocked off with crime scene tape, loading evidence into a crime scene unit van shortly after arriving.

The same JPD detectives from the Shell gas station also could be seen outside the apartment complex on Smith Robinson Street.   There's been no official confirmation from the Jackson Police Department from either crime scene.
