Sharon Summers has been replaced as principal of Ridgeland High School. That was confirmed Friday afternoon by Madison County Schools Superintendent Ronnie McGehee.
Eric Brooks will reportedly act as the interim principle. Read about him here.
The superintendent said he couldn't give any more details because of legal issues. Summers has been principal at the school the past three years.
This comes on the heels of two Ridgeland coaches, 27-year-old Michael L. Porter and, his wife, 26-year-old Blair Elizabeth Porter, of Brandon, being indicted on charges of sexual battery of a child.
The change comes less than a week before school starts. Teachers are due to report to Ridgeland High School Monday morning.
"RHS Faculty is strong. We will make it through this," said a Ridgeland High School educator. "Kids come next week and that's our priority."
