CRYSTAL SPRINGS, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Crystal Springs Police confirmed a domestic disturbance turned into a brief hostage situation around 11:12 am at 231 South Avenue.

It started as a domestic dispute between Tesean Parnell and his girlfriend.

His girlfriend got scared when the situation escalated and ran next door for help at a neighbors house. That's when Parnell grabbed his .22 caliber rifle and threatened to shoot the neighbor.

Police arrived and were able to coerce Parnell out of the home to surrender about 30 minutes later.

"The subject was inside of the house when we arrived there, we established contact, officers at the scene established contact with him via cell phone and we were able to talk to him and eventually get him to come out and surrender himself," said Captain Chris Leveque with the Crystal Springs Police Department.

No one was injured.

"And that was our biggest concern the officers did a great job, we arrived, set up the perimeter on the house , established contact with him, prevented citizens from the area being in harms way so it was the best ending of what could have been a bad situation,"said Captain Leveque.

The investigation is ongoing.

He will face 2 simple assault charges.
