RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Madison County Schools issued a press release naming Eric Brooks Principal of Ridgeland High School effective immediately.

Brooks most recently served as Assistant Principal of Ann Smith Elementary.

According to Brooks, "This opportunity is a dream come true. I've spent the past 13 years in school administration and there is no place I would rather serve than Ridgeland. My family is vested in the area, and my daughter wears Titan blue as a student at Highland Elementary."

Superintendent Dr. Ronnie McGehee notes, "Mr. Brooks has been with Madison County Schools for eight years – six years as an Assistant Principal at Madison Middle, and one year at Ann Smith Elementary. He has developed the skills of an effective school leader and established rapport with families of Ridgeland. He will build on the foundation that has been established at RHS to promote a positive learning climate and prepare students for post-secondary experiences."

Speaking about Brooks promotion, Dr. Melissa Philley, Principal of Ann Smith Elementary, notes, "We will miss him on our campus, but Eric will do well for the students and staff of Ridgeland High School."
