JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

TV and film star Antonio Sabato, Jr. is working hard in a 1970's era house on Hanging Moss Road in Jackson, where the family room will be completely transformed.

"We're doing a 3-4 day job in a matter of 10-12 hours," Sabato, Jr. says.

The house belongs to Tiffany Wheeler and her 8-year-old son, Miles.

"We've been kind of secluded to the bedroom or living room until everything is done," Tiffany says.

Miles shares his dreams for the room. "I hope to have a different type of flooring and a little bit more natural light in there, and for it to be a little more welcoming," he says.

Perhaps that's exactly what the family will get, as the crew of the NBC show "Fix It and Finish It" buckles down to get the job done.

"We're doing all new furniture, flooring, electrical, lighting, everything," Sabato, Jr. says. "For me personally, this is the greatest job. I wake up in the morning and I thank God every day that I'm here. I'm doing this for a lot of wonderful people."

And wonderful people are helping out, too. The owners of House Works of Madison are serving as contractors. They've donated their time for free for this job, and the other houses in Jackson that will be featured on the show.

Wheeler can't believe it's happening.

"I sent in a video, they liked the video, then I did an interview and became a finalist. Then we were one of the ones that were selected," Wheeler says.

The air date for the episode has not yet been set, but "Fix It and Finish It" will air beginning September 8.
