The Mississippi State Department of Health is issuing a boil-water alert for customers who receive their drinking water from the City of Brandon water supply located in Rankin County.
This affects approximately 6,500 customers on the east side of the water system including Los Parrilleros Restaurant and all customers east of the police station on Highway 80.
Also includes all of Marquette Road and all customers south of the railroad intersection on Highway 18. The alert includes the downtown area and all customers east of downtown.
Sampling showed the presence of total coliform bacteria in the drinking water.
