CT woman challenges Justin Timberlake to take Ice Bucket Challenge

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Connecticut resident Kathleen Fraser has completed the Ice Bucket Challenge and has challenged music artist Justin Timberlake.

Fraser said she accepted the challenge in memory of her cousin, Molly, who passed away from ALS.

Timberlake, however, was already nominated by others. He posted his acceptance of the challenge on his Facebook page, after which he challenged Jimmy Fallon and the Tonight Show's crew.

The challenge, which was born in Massachusetts, came from former Boston College baseball player Pete Frates.

Frates was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also know as Lou Gehrig's disease, in 2012. Here's a link to his charity.

The way it works is after a friend extends the challenge, that person has 24 hours to respond. If they fail to respond, they have to donate $100 to an ALS charity.

If accepted, however, a bucket of ice water is dumped over the person's head, which is recorded and shared over social media. That person must then extend the same challenge to four other friends.

Eyewitness News has been accepting challenges since last week. Traffic reporter Nicole Nalepa and meteorologists Scot Haney, Mark Dixon and Mike Cameron have all accepted the Ice Bucket Challenge, as well as anchor Kara Sundlun. Channel 3's Vice President and General Manager Klarn DePalma also accepted the challenge.
