HINDS COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Hinds County School District says that all of the students involved in a school bus crash on Wednesday are now back at home.

The school district released this statement on Thursday morning:

The Hinds County School District wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to all parents, employees, law enforcement agencies, community members and emergency responders that assisted with the bus accident yesterday.

We are pleased to report that while some of the students were transported to local hospitals, all were released to their parents on yesterday evening.

The accident occurred shortly before around 3:20 PM, west of Clinton on US 80, near Norrell Road.

The bus was carrying 9 people, 8 students and the driver.

AMR said they transported 7 patients from the bus wreck, six students and one adult.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper Eric Henry says another vehicle crossed the center line of Highway 80 and forced the school bus off the road. Investigators are looking for the driver of a white van who they believed caused this crash.

Trooper Henry says in order to avoid impact with the van, the bus driver swerved, hit a guardrail and a tree.

"It actually didn't make contact but it was a vehicle that caused an accident which can he considered as a hit and run even though they did not make contact," said Trooper Henry.  "Hopefully maybe somebody that knows something will come forward give us information so we're pretty much going off on tips, if we get any in."
