Foster care is new to this week's Wednesday's Child. Seventeen-year-old Kellie says she is thinking about becoming a psychologist to help other children who are also waiting for permanent families.

Kellie is easy going, and prefers a relaxed environment . She enjoys reading, and writing poems. This is the first time she has tried art.

"I like crocheting, reading, watching TV, playing outside, walking, stuff like that," said Kellie.

Kellie says being in foster care has made her appreciate having a family even more.

"Since around February, that's when I had my first foster home in February, and now I'm in my second one," said Kellie. "It's different. I've been in a lot of group homes and stuff, so family is a lot better."

Kellie is eager to do well in life. She wants to attend college and has two possible careers in mind.

"I might want to be a surgical tech, to help with the surgery, to hand them tools and stuff, cause I don't want to actually do the surgery," said Kellie. "And then I want to go to be a psychologist or a therapist or something so I can help other kids out."

Kellie says it takes her a while to warm up to people.

"I like talking to people to tell them about what I've been through so they can like have a close bonding to me or something," explained Kellie. "It takes me a while to get to know people to make sure they're the right person cause you never know what's gonna happen."

Despite that, she is hoping to find a forever family.

"Caring, won't give up on me, not really, really strict, but firm and you know, Christian and you know just all around good family that cares for me," said Kellie.
