Montgomery woman charged with attempted arson

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

A Montgomery woman has been arrested after driving her car through a house and then attempting to set it on fire.

According to court documents Veronica Orogun ,24, was arrested and charged with first degree attempted arson on Sunday. The Montgomery Fire Department were dispatched to the 500 block of Glade Park Loop at 3 a.m.

An arson investigator for the fire department told WSFA 12 News that the girlfriend of a man in the home, drove her car through the house. She then got out of the car, got a can of gasoline and poured it on the brick of the house. Since the gas was poured on the brick, nothing burned.

Investigators say that there were six people occupying the home at the time of the incident.The suspect did admit to being intoxicated at the time and also admitted to driving into the home and setting it on fire.

Since the house did not catch fire, the Orogun is being charged with attempted arson. She is being held in the Montgomery County Jail under a $30,000 bond.
